The First Pentecostal Prayer of Faith Church began with a bible study taught to the Medlin family in Princeton Junction, NJ. A bilingual woman from Puerto Rico named Sis. Macharo attended the Bible study and asked me if I would teach a Bible study in Trenton. I agreed and ventured on to teach the 12 session Bible study on the porch of a Perry Street apartment building. After a month the Bible study grew to include about 35 people who only spoke Spanish. Although we spoke no Spanish, God blessed Sis. Macharo to translate the lessons as we taught.

The attendance was growing so rapidly that Sis. Macharo asked if it would be alright to get a building in which we could have Bible studies and services. We found a storefront on Perry Street, Trenton, NJ and had Thursday and Sunday services. The congregation asked if they could have a Spanish Pastor from Texas preach to them, I agreed, went back to my home church, and continued teaching bible study sessions on Thursdays. A month later, I received a call asking if I would Pastor their church. I accepted and stayed on Perry Street for about six months. One day I came to church to discover that our Spanish speaking congregation had returned to Mexico due to a law stating the people could not work in the U.S. without a social security card. We closed the church and went back to our home church.

Every week I received calls asking me to reopen the church. I prayed and asked the Lord to guide me, and he did to another storefront at 799 East State Street, Trenton, NJ.&; With my wife and daughter at my side, I continued to do the work of the Lord. The Lord blessed us, our building became overcrowded, and again we were blessed to find a new location.

In 1993, the Lord took us to a new city with an old church building at 3632 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ. Although the building was boarded up and needed major renovations, it was a beautiful site to us. The Lord removed all opposition and through God's blessing we have continued to grow and are now located in a much larger building located in Amwell, NJ.

WE ARE A BIBLE BELIEVING CHURCH

Our Beliefs: We believe the Bible to be inspired of God; the infallible Word of God. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16).

The Bible is the only God-given authority which man possesses; therefore, all doctrine, faith, hope, and all instruction for the church must be based upon, and harmonize with, the Bible. It is to be read and studied by all men everywhere, and can only be clearly understood by those who are anointed by the Holy Spirit (1 John 2:27)."... no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (2 Peter 1:20, 21)

FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINE: Our basic and fundamental doctrine shall be the Bible standard of full salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.

We shall endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit until we all come into the unity of the faith, at the same time admonishing.

WE PRAY TOGETHER ALOUD because in the Bible we read, "They lifted up their voice to God with one accord." Acts 4:24

WE LIFT OUR HANDS IN PRAISE because in the Bible we read, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord." Psalm 134:2

WE SING WITH ALL OUR HEARTS because in the Bible we read, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice and sing praise." Psalm 98:4

WE PLAY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS because in the Bible we read, "And all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments." 2 Samuel 6:5

WE CLAP OUR HANDS AND SHOUT UNTO GOD because in the Bible we read, "O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph." Psalm 47:1

WE DANCE BEFORE THE LORD because in the Bible we read, "Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs." Psalm 150:4

WE ANOINT WITH OIL AND PRAY FOR THE SICK because in the Bible we read, "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:" James 5:14

WE ALLOW THE OPERATION OF SPIRITUAL GIFTS because in the Bible we read, "when ye come together, everyone of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation." 1 Cor. 14:26
